Anyway, this delay turns out to be kind of fortuitous, because in the weeks since Churchwide Assembly, I've discovered more helpful resources than I would've had to share when I was right there. (Yes, I was right there. For some of it, anyway.)
So, if you are interested, here are some resources for more information, in no particular order:
- Official Brief Summary of Actions, of which there were quite a lot. There are some useful links along the right-hand side of the page, including several about the much-debated question of "bound conscience".
- Information and remarks to encourage Further Discussion, including remarks from the Presiding Bishop and the text of the actual social statement on human sexuality as it was actually voted in. Includes lots of video and audio.
- Literally hundreds of photos from each day of the assembly. There are some pretty good ones of me in the Thursday gallery, but I'm not telling you where.
- Blog from Southwestern Minnesota Synod's Bishop Jon Anderson, which is worth a read even though it isn't on blogspot.
- One of many online Bibles, because the Bible is always a good resource.
A Google search will surely turn up dozens, even hundreds, of other resources, from news articles to personal blogs, some of them more reliable than others (as is always the case with things you find on the Internet). I will be happy to answer questions about the parts that I experienced and to listen to questions and concerns, but I find it most helpful to do that in person rather than online, so it probably won't happen on this blog.
